PWR: America’s Next Top Tag Team Tournament 4/12/2006
In the first round of the tournament the PWR fans were treated to Stuart Robinson and Martin Fairbairn vs. Osamu Watanabe, Matt Shane and Victor Harris vs. Hando and Radical Ryan, Jesse Raine and Trek Storm vs. Dark Curry and Kid Curry, and Paradigm and Evan Divine vs. Rick Fatal and Masked Muscle.
1.) Stuart Robinson/ Martin Fairbairn(O) def. Osamu Watanabe(X)/ Bushido X via STF
Martin Fairbairn is a hoss among hosses; an STF tap out victory sends Stuart and Martin into the semis.
2.) Matt Shane(O)/ Victor Harris def. Hando/Jesse Goodfro (X) via Acupunkture -> 450 Splash
Shane pulled out all the stops; Hando took everyone by surprise as he entered the arena. The team of Hando and Goodfro came inches from victory but failed. Matt Shane and Victor Harris advanced to next round narrowly.
3.) Jesse Raine/Trek Storm(O) def. Dark Curry/Kid Curry(X) via Running STO -> pin
Raine’s tag partner was revealed as FPN’s Trek Storm; and the crowd loved it. Trek put Kid Curry away with a Running STO for the three count handily. Raine brawled around a bit with Dark Curry after the match as well.
4.) Paradigm(O)/Evan Divine def. Rick Fatal/Masked Muscle(X) via Roaring Elbow -> Gotch Style Piledriver -> pin
Rick Fatal and Masked Muscle were obvious favorites walking into this match, but the tenacity of both Paradigm and Evan Divine was too much for the veteran tag team. It took an amazing one two punch of Divine’s Roaring Elbow and Paradigm’s Gotch Piledriver to put Double M down.
The second round of the tag tournament was shaping up to allow for some classic matches which included: Stuart Robinson and Martin Fairbairn vs. Matt Shane and Victor Harris, Jesse Raine and Trek Storm vs. Paradigm and Evan Divine.
5.) Matt Shane/ Victor Harris def. Stuart Robinson/ Martin Fairbairn via disqualification
Pure shenanigan describes the ending to this match the best. Martin awoke the sick side of Stuart who brought weapons into the ring and beat down the former number one contender to his PWR Heavyweight Title, Matt Shane.
6.) Paradigm/Evan Divine(O) def. Jesse Raine(X)/Trek Storm via Roaring Elbow -> pin
The match broke down at the fifteen-minute mark when Raine decided to be “hardcore” and bring a chair into the ring. Divine took advantage and stuck Raine in the face with it with a Roaring Elbow while Trek and Paradigm were busy fighting on the other side of the ring. Raine no sold the shot and began bleeding, then spiked Divine with a Thunder Fire Powerbomb for a near fall. Paradigm made the save and hit a German Suplex Whip on Raine; as Raine rose Divine hit his Roaring Elbow again crushing Raine while Paradigm stopped Trek from making the save.
After the amazing 2nd round matches the final round had the stellar Cinderella team of Paradigm and Evan Divine versus the ever so strong team of Matt Shane and Victor Harris!
7.) Paradigm(O)/Evan Divine def. Matt Shane(X)/ Victor Harris via Gotch Style Piledriver
Huge, super, amazing, out of this world, slobber knocker, retirement home, main event for all ages! Yeah, the match lasted well over 45 minutes and saw all four competitors pull out all the stops. Matt Shane hit a huge Avalanche Hurricanrana to a standing Divine, which nearly killed him. Paradigm hit an Avalanche German on Harris in unison to Shane’s Hurricanrana on Divine. Paradigm and Shane then battled to see who could hit their finisher first, ending in Paradigm hitting a second rope Gotch Style Piledriver after Shane had set him up in the coner for a Punk Buster. Paradigm covered and got the deciding three count.
